In 1949 one woman pretty much single-handedly saved the Japanese Porphyra harvest by studying the mysterious life-cycle of this red alga. Its because of her that we get to eat delicious Sushi all day long. And to this day Japan honours her on April 14th with the title of Maiden of the Sea.
Pretty crazy no?
Come along to the final talk to term to hear more about the wacky and wonderful world of women and the seaweed they love.
