If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr Matthew Nethercote. The unified transform method is a powerful tool for scattering problems. Previously, Dr Lorna Ayton and Dr Matthew Colbrook used the method to develop a versatile and efficient framework for solving elastic scattering by collinear plates. In this talk, we outline how this work has been adapted to include uniform flow. We will introduce the method, briefly compare it with its primary analytical competitor, the Wiener–Hopf technique, and then discuss several sub-problems associated with adapting the method to study pororelastic plates in grazing flow. Then, we address the future applications for which the method is well-suited to act as a bridge between fully analytical methods, such as Wiener-Hopf, and numerical alternatives like boundary integral methods.
