If you have a question about this talk, please contact Catherine Pearson. When an oilfield is abandoned it is not because no oil remains. Instead a combination of technical and commercial factors combine and these lead the field operators to cease production. Change the operator, change the technology, change the understanding, change the oil price or change the mindset and it might be possible to generate a commercially attractive project. The Argyll Field was unwanted and abandoned after 17 years of production. The first ever North Sea field in production it became the first ever abandoned field to be redeveloped. This is its story.
