Not Just For The Boys: Why We Need More Women In Science

Early years stereotyping leads to a shortage of women entering the STEM arena (particularly the physical sciences, engineering and computing) and boys being deterred from subjects like languages and psychology. This can be good for neither the individual nor wider society. Diversity in approach due to life experiences impacts on business decisions (and hence profits), research emphasis and innovation. I will talk about the origins of the issues, the slow change of pace and why this matters for our society and economic growth.

This talk is part of the Darwin Society series.
