I will explain how to use some ideas from the log MMP
(Sarkisov’s program) to obtain a nice description
of the automorphism group of some affine surfaces,
a typical example being the complement of an affine
section in a Hirzebruch surface. (Joint work with
Adrien Dubouloz.)
