Dr Katy Relph started her career in the mining industry in 2020 through a Women in Mining UK internship at Golden Star Resources, before taking a permanent position as Sustainability Advisor. Katy is now ESG Advisor for Centamin Plc, a FTSE 250 gold mining company, and has recently focussed on developing the Group climate change strategy and decarbonisation roadmap, developing the Group Diversity and Inclusion Policy, developing and implementing a refreshed Group Code of Conduct, aligning tailings governance to best practice and supporting the pre-feasibility and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment process in Côte d’Ivoire. Katy frequently works onsite with teams in Centamin’s greenfield exploration site in Côte d’Ivoire and mature operational mine site in Egypt. Katy will talk about environmental, social and governance topics in current projects and about life in the mining industry. This talk is part of the Sedgwick Club talks series.
