If you have a question about this talk, please contact eb694. The exquisite data from Gaia has made it possible to identify signs of the ancient accretions that built up our Galaxy. When combined with high quality spectra, the chemical and dynamical analyses of stellar streams (found from conserved dynamical quantities) and nearby satellites (with improved memberships from precision proper motions) can be compared. In this talk, I will discuss newly discovered stellar streams that impact models of the ancient star formation properties of dwarf galaxies. Additionally, chemical analyses of old stars in the extreme outskirts of nearby dwarf galaxies can be used to identify early star formation events, late time mergers, and/or tidal stripping caused by multiple orbits around the Galaxy.
