Abstract

The CTNTE is happy to announce their first conference since the global pandemic started: Policies to Tackle the Cost of Living Crisis.

The cost of living crisis, referring to the fall in real disposable incomes, has affected us all to varying degrees. Dysfunctionality in western economies has led to a situation where wage and work are no longer sufficient for income adequacy, and a new policy paradigm is needed to deliver adequate household income and reduce national debt.

CTNTE speakers will cover a range of topics, including:

• The macroeconomic implications of basic income
• The role of technology in reducing labour income, leading to a macroeconomic case for a universal basic income
• Funding basic income by direct money financing
• The links between wealth and income, and their implications for basic income
• National solutions to spiralling costs of living.
