Well defined single isolated sites in solid catalysts are build: on hybrid organic-inorganic materials, by introducing acid and redox active sites in well structured nanoporous materials, or by stabilizing cationic and metal forms of transition metals on well defined supports. The catalysts formed in that way show high activity and selectivity for a large range of single and tandem reactions that allow to perform new environmentally friendly chemical process.
