Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) combine the fast debugging and time-to-market of a programmable system with the very high parallelism offered by a hardware platform. In this talk, I will give an overview
of FPGA architecture and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and my recent contributions in this research field. In more detail, I will introduce
a new benchmarking suite, called GroundHog 2009, that we have created to motivate low-power research for FPG As targeting the mobile computing domain. I will highlight some results in this topic and then suggest some avenues for further research in the FPGA field
and beyond.
