Wine, cheese, and other refreshments will be served in the Lubbock Room at Peterhouse from 8:30 pm for an 8:45 pm start. Professor Charlotte Summers, who leads the COVID -19 critical care surge response at Addenbrooke’s, will be speaking on the subject of “Learning From Pandemics.” SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY : Dr. Charlotte Summers is a Professor of Intensive Care Medicine and Director of Clinical Academic Training at the University of Cambridge. She is co-leader of the Peri-operative, Acute, Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (PACE) Section at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and Chief Investigator of HEAL -COVID, an NIHR funded “Urgent Public Health clinical trial of national importance.” Dr. Summers graduated in both Biomedical Sciences and Medicine from the University of Southampton, and later undertook a PhD at the University of Cambridge investigating the role of inflammation on the pulmonary transit kinetics of human neutrophils, alongside specialist clinical training in Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine. She was subsequently appointed as the UK’s first NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine, and went on to be awarded a Fulbright All-disciplines Scholar Award and a Wellcome Trust Fellowship for Postdoctoral Clinician Scientists. COVID -19 POLICY : If attending in-person, we encourage you to test for COVID -19 by lateral flow on the day, and ask that you not attend if you have a positive result. We also encourage the use of face coverings whilst not eating or drinking. In addition, we strongly recommend attendees to have completed their full course of COVID -19 vaccines prior to the event. Please ask for directions to the Theatre at the Peterhouse Porters Lodge on Trumpington St. All are welcome. A Zoom livestream will also be available.
