If you have a question about this talk, please contact Carl Scheffler. A team of 7 people recently ventured into Afghanistan to help set up high speed internet infrastructure to a hospital, a school and a NGO in Jalalabad. Having just returned, Carl will show how building antennas with cheap materials is drawing people around the world to the place where communication, invention and play come together. This tale will include many photos and personal experiences alongside the story of how fabrication labs that have been deployed from the North of Norway, to South Africa; from rural India, to the USA are changing the way people interact with technology. http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/cs482/fablab/ This talk is part of the SBR Graduate Talks series.
