Based at the University of Cambridge, SSPP leverages the skills, experiences and perspectives of political activists to ask how academic communities can better understand, learn from and support their work.

In this first session of the series, we are delighted to host Mariana Karkoutly, a Syrian political and human rights activist based in Berlin.

Mariana works on international criminal investigations at the Centre for Justice and Accountability, and as a program manager at the Syrian political organisation Adopt a Revolution. As the 10-year anniversary of the revolution approaches, Mariana’s session will focus on the movement for justice within the Syrian diaspora. She will also discuss the #SyriaNotSafe campaign and its aim of ending the unlawful and inhumane forced return of refugees and asylum seekers to Syria.

Registration and more details and information on the purpose of SSPP and the key questions we seek to untangle in this series can be accessed via:

Zoom details will be shared with attendees prior to the event.
