If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dominic Walton. The Epoch of Reionization (EoR) signals the end of the Dark Ages of the Universe and the birth of the first stars. The aim for the current generation telescopes is to make the first statistical detection of this epoch. The foregrounds cover the cosmological data by several orders of magnitude however, and their removal remains a significant challenge. I will speak broadly about the foreground mitigation techniques currently being used with EoR data, with a focus on blind source separation techniques, and discuss whether we have seen a first detection by EDGES , after 8 years of searching.
