This project is examining Ocean Vuong’s poetry collection Night Sky with Exit Wounds and novel On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, focusing on the dialogue between the aesthetics of memory Vuong figures in each and prevailing conceptions of contemporary American masculinity. Vuong’s aesthetics encourage the reader to notice the absurdities and peculiarities of what is presumed.
