It is the current system of capitalism, and in particular the semi-detached, self-regulating financial system, that is the engine driving a dramatic rise in carbon emissions. These in turn are transforming the climate and leading to climate breakdown. To prevent climate breakdown, and to ensure the livability of the planet for future life forms, requires that we begin by transforming today’s financialised capitalism.
