This talk has been canceled/deleted Over the past 20 years there has been a growing amount of empirical research trying to understand the extent to which technology innovation in energy technologies can contribute to mitigating climate change. This presentation will focus on what we know regarding the role of governments in promoting such innovation in low-carbon energy technologies, with a particular emphasis on the United States and China, the largest greenhouse gas emitters. She will discuss some of the main challenges of building and resourcing effective, empowered institutions able to tackle climate change more rapidly. Her presentation will also discuss how research could help overcome some of these challenges. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
