This talk will give a self-contained introduction to the economics of infectious diseases. This is a growing field of interdisciplinary study which applies ideas from economics, mathematical optimisation and game theory to the study and management of infectious diseases. The talk will first introduce the classical epidemiological models studied in public health and biology and then show how ideas from economics can be used in conjunction with the classical models to inform public health policies.
This talk is part of the MRC Epidemiology and CEDAR Seminars series.
