The seminar will start with a brief overview of current energy related research efforts at UNSW and the associated relationships of the research group with external organizations/institutions. It will then describe the group’s research in Power Electronics and Drives, carried out under my guidance, in the past three years. The main items of research at UNSW in direct torque control, interior permanent magnet (IPM) machine design and control for traction (automotive) and wind generation, switched reluctance and induction motor drive control, matrix converters, matrix-Z source converter and active power filter with magnetic energy storage will be described.
