THIS TALK IS HOSTED BY CEU AND WILL BE CHAIRED BY DR EMANUELE DI ANGELANTONIO UK Biobank has the ambitious aim of acquiring 100,000 cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) scans in 20% of the original cohort. This talk will provide some insight into progress, challenges and opportunities of this already largest CMR research study to date. Some examples will be given that demonstrate how UK Biobank already contributes to our understanding of how modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors link to cardiac structure and function. Progress on automating the analysis of CMR scans using deep learning approaches and extracting additional novel biomarkers will be discussed.
