PSAT/NMSQT 2021: What You Need to Know - Summit Educational Group

What is the PSAT ?

The PSAT Stands for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test

The PSAT is a standardized test that the College Board gives to students in the 10th and 11th grades. It was formerly known as the Pre-SAT but is now just known by its own abbreviation. The PSAT is typically regarded as a student’s first experience with SAT -style testing because the College Board also manages the SAT .

The PSAT is frequently known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test since it is also utilized as the National Merit Scholarship qualifying test (NMSQT).

PSAT scores range from 320 to 1520, with 320 being the lowest possible score and 1520 being the highest. The test yields scores for Evidence-based Reading, Math, and Writing. The total score on each section is determined by the number of correct answers in each section. The final PSAT score is the sum of the scores from all four sections.

College admissions officers will consider your standardized test scores, high school GPA , high school classes, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays.
