Many people love music. Some just listen to it, sing along to their favorite compositions, or play an instrument “for the soul.” Others make music professionally , devoting their free time to their favorite work and earning a living for them. Musicians can be specialists in different fields. So what are the professions related to music?
Music performersThe word “ musician ” is primarily associated with a person who plays an instrument. There are many such.
Music performers also include vocalists – those who “play” with their own voice, in other words, sing . Performers can perform both solo (alone) and join various groups. It can be a duet, trio, quartet, etc. – in general, any variety or chamber ensemble. Orchestras and choirs also belong here, and hence such musical professions as choir artist or orchestra player . For a well-coordinated performance of a large association of musicians, a conductor is needed – an orchestra manager.Good Music creatorsMusic begins with its creation. In order to perform music, you must first come up with it. This is done by people whose professions are also inextricably linked with music.A composer is a person who writes music for songs, films, plays and concerts. In order to compose music, you definitely need to know musical notation. Composers write music using both musical instruments and computer programs. An arranger is a person who remakes an already created melody for an instrument or a group of musicians. For example, an arranger might remake a piano song for a rock band to perform. He brings something new, while not losing the original uniqueness of the melody. The songwriter is the lyricist. First, a text can be invented, and a melody is already selected for it, and vice versa. Musicians often write their own songs.Music teachersTeachers play an important role in musical development. The professions associated with music in this area can be of several types.Teacher-musician – teaching musical art professionally. They work in music schools, conservatories and music departments. Music teacher – works in schools, kindergartens. Such people pursue educational goals, they instill a love of music and broaden the musical horizons.Song organizersSuch people are involved in promoting artists or organizing various events.A producer is a person who invests in a music project and helps with further development. A band manager , musical agent or impresario is a person who helps an artist to solve everyday and organizational problems. Event and PR-managers can participate in organizing musical events . Such people may not have a musical education, but they must have good organizational skills, as well as love and understand music. Musicians in television, radio and cinema There are enough musical professions in this area, as more and more entertainment music programs appear in the media. TV and radio presenter – conducts programs, one way or another related to music. These can be various charts , talk shows, or educational programs about music. A music columnist is a journalist who writes about music. These can be educational texts or criticism. Sound engineer – creates sound artistic images in films, broadcasts, performances, etc. He creates and processes sounds using special equipment. A sound engineer must have both technical knowledge of sound and musical education.The criticsIn the music field, there are experts who analyze and evaluate works of musical art.Critic – gives an expert assessment of musical works. Such criticism must be objective. Musicologist – studies music from the point of view of its characteristics, patterns and connections with other areas of art.
