Cambridge Migration Research Network presents a LUNCHTIME SEMINAR : Friday 28th April, 1pm, B3, Institute of Criminology

Dr Sara Silvestri presents some highlights from work in progress analysing the contribution of the Christian churches, especially the Catholic to the management of refugee crises and migration flows. With opportunity to discuss.

While using examples from the European and US context the paper reflects on the global role of the Catholic church both in terms of institutional perspective and from the view point of the moral values and the political theology at the heart of the Christian tradition. Finally it highlights the sui generis position of the Catholic church vis a’ vis policy and academic debates on the Global Governance of Migration

Dr Sara Silvestri is Affiliated Lecturer in the POLIS department in Cambridge a Bye Fellow of St Edmund’s College. She is also Senior Lecturer in Religion and International Politics at City, University of London and Director of Research at the Von Huegel Intitute for Critical Catholic Inquiry, where she has coordinated a project (initially funded by Cammigres then by the Plater Trust) on the contribution of Catholic NGOs to migration policy in the UK.
