The Cambridge Humanities Review was established in 2012 as a journal of literary and intellectual essays, written by academics, students and guest writers. It aims to revive the spirit of the Cambridge Review, a publication with a long and esteemed history from 1879 to its demise in 1998 which included writing by figures as diverse Bertrand Russell, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Michael Oakeshott, Clive James, Simon Schama and John Rawls. The contributors to the Cambridge Humanities Review have included Lord Rowan Williams, Professor David Runciman, Professor Paul Cartledge, Lord Maurice Glasman and Alastair Campbell. The CHR carries the motto of the University ‘hinc lucem et pocula sacra’, from here we draw light and sacred draughts.
