Humanity’s challenge this century is simple but radical: to meet the needs of all within the means of the planet. Can it be done? Last century’s economic theories give us little chance of getting us there, and yet are still taught in university departments worldwide. Kate Raworth argues that it is time for a new compass for charting human wellbeing – one that compels us to replace the 20th century fixation on endless GDP growth with a 21st century focus on regenerative and distributive economic design.
