If you have a question about this talk, please contact Maurice Chiodo. Why would a mathematician or statistician need any advice on ethics? Pure mathematics surely does not need an apology for pure enjoyment of abstract beauty, unsullied by everyday responsibilities. The American Mathematical Society has a Policy Statement on Ethical Guidelines, first approved in January 1995. I suspect it is not often read. I will compare this with the International Statistical Institute Declaration on Professional Ethics of 1985 and 2010, and with medical codes of conduct. This talk is part of the C.U.
