This seminar will look at public examinations and seek to clarify what their purposes are, and what they have been. We will discuss how the demands of different purposes and different stakeholders complicate the picture, and how they might be reconciled. The seminar will also look at the relationship of examining bodies to national educational systems and qualifications.
