This paper looks at how the politics of the Wars of the Roses played out in the multilingual environment of the March of Wales, where Welsh, English and French circulated in multiple layers. It will examine praise poems in Welsh composed to the major Yorkist leader, William Herbert, and compare these with similar poems to political leaders in English and French.
