Carlijn’s main interest is in socioeconomic inequalities in health. In her research, she investigates socioeconomic inequalities in health and health behaviours, with a specific interest in outcomes related to physical activity, obesity, and quality of life. She looks into possible explanatory mechanisms for these inequalities, e.g. the role of perceived and objective neighbourhood characteristics, cultural differences between socioeconomic groups, and differences in social networks.
