If you have a question about this talk, please contact ignite. This intensive, week-long programme aims to fast-track technology and innovation ideas to commercial reality. The blend of practical teaching sessions, one-to-one and group clinics, mentors’ sessions and expert advice from leading entrepreneurs and innovators will give participants the tools, contacts and confidence to transform their idea or innovation into a successful business project or venture. When is it? Ignite is open to senior researchers, research associates, postdoctorates, postgraduates or graduates considering their own venture; as well as solo scientists or technologists seeking to commercialise a new product or service. It is also open to Industry partners, corporate intrapreneurs and innovators. Since 1999, over 400 people from 25 countries have attended Ignite leading to approximately 120 business ventures, start ups and spin outs. Develops Skills: • Learn how to explain the technology opportunity in commercial terms • Gain a commercial approach in the development of innovative ideas. • Clarify your business idea, and test it within a high calibre and safe environment • Develop a significant and relevant network of contacts with the business community, Cambridge investor network, University of Cambridge Judge Business School MBAs and your peers from the Ignite programme Plus, you can sign up for the new Mentor Scheme! We’ve introduced a scheme to provide structured support to entrepreneurs after completing Ignite. The mentoring journey will start on Sat 9th July, 10:00 13:00, with an Induction workshop. Funding via the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is supporting a limited number of places for University of Cambridge students. If you’re a 3rd year PhD student or postdoctorate researcher, this could be for you. Please contact Programme Manager, Frances Bycroft, or Programme Director, Yupar Myint by email at ignite@jbs.cam.ac.uk. 5 FREE places for CIKC -funded researchers – Apply by 4pm on Wednesday 11th May Again, this year, the Cambridge Integrated Knowledge Centre (CIKC) are funding up to five places on this innovation course. The CIKC are keen to support those researching the exploitation of molecular and macromolecular materials, low temperature or additive processing and distributed and flexible electronics and displays.
