If you have a question about this talk, please contact mm405. José A. Scheinkman was born in 1948 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He attended the Universidade Federal do Rio de Jandeiro where he obtained his B.A. in economics. He received an M.S. degree in mathematics in 1970 from the Instituto de Matematica Pura e Aplicada. He received his M.A. degree (1973) and a Ph.D degree (1974) in economics from the University of Rochester. From 1973 to 1999 he taught at the University of Chicago and was the Alvin H. Baum Distinguished Service Professor of Economics. He is now the Theodore A. Wells ‘29 Professor of Economics at Princeton University. He is member of the (US) National Academy of Sciences.
