Granular flows occur in a wide range of different areas, including engineering, geophysics and industry. We shall present a series of results on the collapse of granular material from a range of initial states, using both dimensional analysis and numerical evaluations. The presentation will also include some simple desk-top experiments to illustrate the ideas.

This talk is part of the Engineering Fluids Group Seminar series.
