The ideas associated with Confucius have influenced Chinese society for over two millennia, and are vital to our understanding of Chinese attitudes towards family, education, political authority and personal conduct. Professor Roel Sterckx explores some of the reasons for this phenomenon and shows that we can only understand China in the present, through examining its past.
