Students for Global Health Cambridge and Cambridge University One Health Society have teamed together for Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week to bring you a panel of experts to discuss the topic of Antimicrobial Resistance on Wednesday 20th November. This is the resistance of bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi to the drugs normally used to treat them. Join us for a discussion of questions regarding the impact of antimicrobial resistance, strategies for combating resistance and what we as individuals can be doing.

The Panelists: Professor Julian Parkhill- Head of Infection Genomics at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and uses genomic approaches to understand the evolution of pathogenic bacteria on short and long timescales, including the evolution of antibiotic resistance Dr Nicholas Brown – Consultant Medical Microbiologist. Former President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) from 2012-2015 and current BSAC Director of Public and Professional Engagement. Dr Solange Alves- A medical doctor with an interdisciplinary background including a veterinary degree and a master of public health. Since 2017 she has been a WHO consultant advisor for one health approach projects on health security including AMR

Access: The Divinity School has ramped access and the Lightfoot Room can be accessed via lift, therefore there is step-free access to the venue.
