Abstract
How do you measure emotion objectively? What does emotion have to do with autism, sleep, epilepsy, decision making, learning, and the Doritos mouse? Why is computational emotion harder than computers winning at chess or go (by orders of magnitude?) This talk will show live demonstrations of new technologies for measuring and communication emotional information, including a new way to read heart rate using an ordinary webcam and ordinary white light.
In addition to being a full-time professor at MIT , Picard has recently co-founded with el Kaliouby (U Cambridge PhD) a company, Affectiva, where she serves as chief scientist and chairman.
