Abstract
CUGS are very excited to welcome Professor Piers Blaikie, an esteemed academic recognised as one of the founders of the political ecology movement. He is an eminent thinker on issues of development, environmentalism and natural disaster.
In 2006 he was included as a key thinker in the book, ‘Fifty Key Thinkers on Development’; in 2008, his lifetime of academic work was acknowledged in a special issue of Geoforum magazine, “In honor of the Life Work of Piers Blaikie” (39:2, March 2008).
