Abstract
The UK is a global leader in many aspects of nuclear fusion technology. I will review current fusion technology, new facilities that are currently being developed, and give an insight to the role of the UK Atomic Energy Authority. I will also address some of the challenges faced in our drive towards the eventual delivery of a commercial fusion power plant.
Colin joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority in 2018 as Director of the National Fusion Technology Platform (NFTP). This exciting programme will enhance the UK’s expertise in critical areas of fusion research, with significant benefits to the economy as part of the Government’s Industrial Strategy.
