DESCRIPTION:The UK is a global leader in many aspects of nuclear fusion te
 chnology. I will review current fusion technology\, new facilities that ar
 e currently being developed\, and give an insight to the role of the UK At
 omic Energy Authority. I will also address some of the challenges faced in
  our drive towards the eventual delivery of a commercial fusion power plan
 t. \n\nColin joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority in 2018 as Director of 
 the National Fusion Technology Platform (NFTP). This exciting programme wi
 ll enhance the UK's expertise in critical areas of fusion research\, with 
 significant benefits to the economy as part of the Government's Industrial
