Giving 10%: discussions with those who do itAdd to your list(s) Download to your calendar using vCal
If you have a question about this talk, please contact A. Kapila. Over 140 Cambridge students have taken the Giving What We Can pledge to donate >10 % of their income to effective causes for the rest of their working life. We’ll hear from three of them at this event. Three current and former Cambridge students will briefly talk about why they made this decision and how they find actually acting on it. There’ll be plenty of time for questions and discussion, with free food and drinks. Many thoughts may cross your mind when you hear about this 10% pledge: - Is that actually going to change anything? - A “pledge” sounds unnecessary - What is an “effective cause”? - 10% sounds like a lot, I don’t even have a job yet. We’ll be discussing difficult questions and choices like this in a relaxed environment. We hope you’ll leave feeling inspired that we do have opportunities to change things for the better. Hope to see you there! This event is in the office for the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, just across the road from the Mill Lane lecture rooms – it’ll be well sign-posted. Please note the start-time may change, but it will be about 7 or 8pm. As always, this event is open to all, regardless of affiliation with the University of Cambridge. This talk is part of the EA: Cambridge series. This talk is included in these lists:Note that ex-directory lists are not shown. |
