In this talk I will discuss three interesting (and rather different) research problems that the computational design group is currently working on: 1. Computing the efficiency of a jet engine (and quantifying the uncertainties therein); 2. Polynomial interpolation and approximation (and why we are still so interested in it); 3. Reducing the dimensionality of a high dimensional problem (and visualizing it!). These research problems will be presented from a relatively high-level perspective.
