Play & Current Neuroscience Research - Dr Lindsey Russo

This seminar will explore current research on the relationship between play and the brain development of young children. Dr Russo will discuss how the findings are reflected within the development and implementation of early childhood curricula in the USA .

Using a case study of an independent school located in NYC , Dr Russo will identify how this lab school uses research to link theory and practice within a play-based learning environment that supports and scaffolds the development of creativity, curiosity, grit and collaboration and incorporates neuroscience into its curricula school-wide.

Dr. Russo received her Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education from Teachers College, Columbia University where she was a faculty member in the Department of Curriculum before joining SUNY New Paltz.

She conducts research at the Blue School, NYC , founded and developed by the Blue Man Group. Dr. Russo supports the school in its documentation and research goals and develops curriculum, professional development, assessment and planning tools for the school.
