This lecture will consider the historical role of the Springfields site in the UK’s nuclear program, the current fuel manufacturing routes and the opportunities presented by nuclear new build. The manufacture of AGR and PWR fuel in the Oxide Fuels Complex is described in detail and an overview of the quality systems and supporting infrastructure is provided.
