All welcome. No booking required.
My research explores the teaching of mathematical topics that intend to prepare students for algebra during elementary school years. Also, it attempts to illuminate further the relationships
between teachers’ practices, teachers’ conceptions and the curricular materials.
The study follows a multiple case study research design and data was collected from interviews, lesson observations and textbook documents. The participants were in-service teachers and their classes in the Cypriot educational context.
In this presentation, I will first introduce the study by elaborating on the research questions and the methodology. Then, I will focus on the data from lesson observations and present some preliminary findings of teachers’ practices when engaging students with algebra-related topics.
