Norwegian architects have become visible on the world stage. Smaller practices like Element Arkitekter, Tyin tegnestue, Rintala Eggertsson, Haugen Zohar, Code or 3RW hold their own alongside more established names like Snøhetta, Jarmund Vigsnæs, Jensen & Skodvin, Helen & Hard and others. The most successful Norwegian projects are characterised by readable form, simple use of materials and a clear attitude to landscape as well as social context. Does this mean we can talk about a new Norwegian architecture? And what does “Norwegian” mean, anyway?
