The Centre for Islamic Studies, the Woolf Institute, and Faith-based Regeneration Network are holding a workshop entitled “Social Action in an Age of Austerity” to be held in Cambridge on September 11th.

This workshop will bring together faith-based community practitioners, academics and policymakers to explore the practical dimensions of serving our communities in a changing environment. Rather than just listening to ‘experts’, this workshop gives an opportunity for community practitioners to work closely with colleagues to explore these challenging issues.

The panels will address the topics of basic welfare provision, support for youth and children, and economic and social development. Among the presenters are Tan Ahmed of the ADAB community centre in Bury, Laura Marks of Mitzvah Day, and Mick Clarke of The Passage. The aims of the workshop include building a network for knowledge sharing and support and encouraging academic research.

Space is limited for this event, if you are interested in attending please contact sc736@cam.ac.uk or cis@cis.cam.ac.uk.
