Literary Cynicism in Nietzsche

The focus of this talk is the description and analysis of cynicism in Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, also with recourse to the Posthumous Fragments from 1884-1889.

It is part of the work in progress on the speaker’s PhD project “Literary Cynicism”, which traces cynicism in key texts of Western literature since the Renaissance and into the beginnings of the twentieth century.

This talk is part of the German Graduate Research Seminar series.
