The Leadership Masterclass series provide interesting insights into the world of Leadership. The speaker Kevin White has had an interesting career in the Civil Service and is currently Director General of Human Resources at the Home Office.

As part of the University’s Leadership and Management development programme we run a series of Masterclasses given by people in senior leadership positions outside the University. The aim of the sessions is for senior administrative and academic staff to gain an understanding of different leadership styles and to hear how different people see their role as a leader in a variety of different and often challenging situations.

The Masterclasses form part of our leadership provision and have been running for the past 2 years, the sessions have typically been an hour and a half, split between a presentation and a question and answer session and often followed by the opportunity for more informal discussion.

The most recent speaker was James Ross – former Chair of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. He also holds a number of non-executive roles with organisations including Prudential and BP.

Previous speakers have included:

Alexis Cleveland – former Director General, Corporate Services Group, Cabinet Office.

Mike Barry – Head of Sustainable Business, Marks and Spencer Plc.

Julie Spence – former Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

Eric Hepburn – Chief Operating Officer of the Prime Minister’s Office, 10 Downing Street.

Paul Evans – former Head of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

Dr Chris Shinn – Force Medical Officer, West Yorkshire Police.

Keith Nelson – Managing Director: Your Total Coach.

The Masterclasses are open to all University staff.
