In an era of benchmarking, rankings and competition, the latest roles of academic journals have been changed by outside forces. Editors often try to resist the pressures to play in the gatekeeping and certification game. Can they resist? Are there viable counter-currents in which such concepts as “intellectual life” and “pursuit of knowledge” and “scholarship as a vocation” do not arouse bemusement? Come to find out from each other and tell the editor of the Comparative Education Review on 12th July.

All welcome
