Today chocolate is a much loved treat all around the world. But what is not
as well known is that the cacao bean, which is the key ingredient for
chocolate, has had an adventurous history dating back to Pre-Columbian
times! This talk will present the true history of chocolate and its use,
not only as a food item, but also for ritual use by the Ancient Maya, for
trade and exchange by the Aztecs, and as a precious commodity in global
economics today. A sampling of special varieties of chocolate will be served!
