How accessible are the sensory worlds of non-human animals? Can we know anything about those worlds? Are we doomed forever to know only what is in our own head? This talk takes a number of cross-bearings (from foxes, swifts, red deer, cetaceans, undergraduates and many other organisms) on these ancient, repercussive and philosophically tricky questions.

This talk is part of the Branching Out Talk Series series.
